The Chehalis School District Board of Directors has been named Board of the Year by the Washington State School Directors’ Association (WSSDA). The Board of the Year award is given to the highest rated boards from among the applicants chosen as Boards of Distinction. 29 school boards received a “Board of Distinction” award this year, with one district from each of three enrollment sizes (small, medium, large) chosen as Board of the Year.
The WSSDA Boards of Distinction recognition program awards school boards that demonstrate alignment with the Washington school board standards. Judges for the WSSDA rated school boards based on the decisions the board makes, the evidence of the results, and how the evidence fits the state’s standards.
Superintendent Ed Rothlin says the award is a recognition of the Board’s dedication to the Student Achievement Initiative to help prepare students for career and college.
"It was a humbling experience to accept this award on behalf of such great people I work with on this Board,” said Board Vice-President Vicki Daniels. “Kudos to our entire district.”
The Chehalis Board was recognized in a ceremony during the WSSDA Annual Conference on November 15.
