United Way of Lewis County provides funding to not-for-profit health and human service agencies that provide strategic, programs in Lewis County for Education: Helping children and youth achieve their potential. Income: Helping families become financially stable and independent, while ensuring that basic needs are met. Health: Improving people’s health. Between October 21, 2013 and November 7, 2013 interested parties may submit a Letter of Intent for funding. Before submitting, however, please check the Eligibility Requirements on the United Way of Lewis County website www.lewiscountyuw.com in the Upcoming Events and/or United Way News sections on the home page.

If your agency is eligible, you may submit a Letter of Intent at that time via email to director@lewiscountyuw.com Attn: Debbie Campbell or send via mail to United Way of Lewis County – 450 NW Pacific – Chehalis, WA 98532. The Letter of Intent is due to United Way of Lewis County by November 7, 2013.
Agencies selected to advance by the Community Investment Committee will be notified after November 25, 2013 by email of their acceptance into the Community Investment process. Grant proposals will be due to United Way of Lewis County by January 9, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. Funding will begin July 1, 2014, and will be sustainable for one year, ending June 30, 2015.
1. EDUCATION

Children enter kindergarten developmentally on track in terms of literacy and social, emotional, and intellectual skills.

Third graders read at grade-level proficiency.

Young people graduate from high school.
2. INCOME

Families have support for basic needs, including shelter and food.

Youth and adults develop financial literacy skills.

Lower-income families move toward financial stability.
- Community members have resources to overcome disasters and emotional or financial crises.
3. HEALTH

Community members have access to healthier foods.

Children and adults decrease overweight and obesity and associated chronic diseases.

Community members have access to basic and preventative health services.

Youth and adults are healthy and avoid risky behaviors.

Seniors and people with disabilities maximize their self-sufficiency.
