Between Oct. 20 and Nov. 6, nonprofit health and human service agencies interested in receiving United Way funding may submit a letter of intent.
United Way of Lewis County provides funding to nonprofit health and human service agencies that provide strategic programs in Lewis County for education, income and health.Eligibility requirements are available on the United Way of Lewis County website, www.lewiscountyuw.com, in the Upcoming Events and United Way News sections on the home page.

All letters must be submitted by Nov. 6, 2014. Agencies selected to advance by the Community Investment Committee will be notified after Nov. 24, 2014. Grant proposals will be due to United Way of Lewis County by Jan. 8, 2015 at 4 p.m. Funding will begin July 1, 2015, and will be sustainable for one year, ending June 30, 2016.
Funds are provided with the expectation that they will address the funding priorities set by the United Way of Lewis County Board of Directors.
Funding Priorities For 2015
Education: Helping children and youth achieve their potential.
Priority Outcomes:
• Children enter kindergarten developmentally on track in terms of literacy and social, emotional and intellectual skills.
• Third graders read at grade-level proficiency.
• Young people graduate from high school.
Income: Helping families become financially stable and independent, while ensuring that basic needs are met.
Priority Outcomes:
• Families have support for basic needs, including shelter and food.
• Youth and adults develop financial literacy skills.
• Lower-income families move toward financial stability.
• Community members have resources to overcome disasters and emotional or financial crises.
Health: Improving people’s health.
Priority Outcomes:
• Community members have access to healthier foods
• Children and adults decrease overweight and obesity and associated chronic diseases.
• Community members have access to basic and preventative health services.
• Youth and adults are healthy and avoid risky behaviors.
• Seniors and people with disabilities maximize their self-sufficiency.
